Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1880s.
. Each side has a very decorative and aristocratic looking monogram which looks to be an intertwined E & M.

The stand is supported by the most elegant splayed feet and the kettle secured with the use of two "keys" one releases the back of the kettle so that it could pivot on the front hinge to pour while still on the stand. The key to the front can also be released removing the kettle completely. There is a burner below which would have been filled with fuel to light the wick, keeping the water hot and ready to top-up the teapot.

The handle is made from silverplate with two Ivory insulators keeping it cool to the touch. The underside has the makers mark for G & S, I believe for the top-notch Goldsmith's & Silversmith's Company of London. It is also marked 4pt for it's four pine capacity. Excellent condition and a grand large size, measuring 14 1/2" tall to top of handle and 9 3/4" across from tip of spout.
