An Oval 18th Century Silver Patch Box

A gorgeous silver patch box from the late 18th Century period. This beautiful example is of oval form with a pull-off lid. The lid is decorated with a band of stylized leaf engraving and has a large central cartouche. The interior is lightly gilded.

Patch boxes are interesting and collectable items. They were for keeping 'beauty spots' in, which were a regular feature of the Georgian's toilette practices, for women and men alike. A charming collector's piece, suitable for use as a small pillbox. Dimensions below.
