Antique Single Chain Fusee Library Clock With Gilt And Enamel Dial Morse London.

This superb antique fusee library clock has a wooden case with a lovely rich colour. The case then has a shaped top leading to a moulding around the top edge which is followed by another ribbed moulding. The body of the case is then square with glass viewing windows to the sides surrounded by gilt frames. The case then has a lovely “belled” section beneath the main body leading to a further moulding. Finally there is a thick square base which is finished by four round brass feet attached to four thin brass squares.

The dial is then round and enamel with a square, gilt surround engraved with wonderful scrolling patterns. The dial is then set out in black Roman numerals with a thin ring of dashes marking the minutes and every five minutes marked with a triangle. The centre of the dial is then signed by the maker “MORSE Charing Cross London”. Finally the dial is finished by two shaped hands as well as a protective glass and silvered frame set into the door.

The movement is then wound from the front and accessed from the back. It is a single chain fusee example of the upmost quality. The clock ticks away as it should and has been recently cleaned and serviced. It comes complete with its winding key, regulating pendulum, and travel nut. The movement is then signed by the maker to the back “MORSE Charing Cross London”.
