Description

A superb Edwardian mahogany chest of drawers by renowned English firm Waring & Gillows of Lancaster c1910. The chest has seven drawers, three full width and the upper level contains two deep side drawers and two narrow drawers in the centre. The top central drawer contains labels for Waring & Gillows Lancaster factory and the patent number. The name of Waring & Gillows is also carved into the drawer edge. All drawers have original brass handles, and locks, also stamped Waring & Gillows and there is a key. The mahogany is a deep lustrous warm tone. The drawers are lined with top quality mahogany. The chest has an upstand, scrolled over feet, a decorative carved band around the top and a back frame, all these being signs of quality. Excellent medium size proportions, excellent condition and lovely colour.
