The cover fitting within the raised collar of the rounded octagonal vase. The vase tapering toward the rounded foot rim. The finial decorated with tapering lattice and blue ground panels. The body of the cover with bamboo leaves falling to a swept blue border, filled with flowers. The rim with butterfly filled reserves, this repeated to the collar of the vase. The shoulders of the vase with exotic dogs against a blue and flowered ground. The body of the vase decorated with bamboo leaves and flowers, around which a mythical bird swoops.
Date circa 1850.
