Art Deco Large Two Tone Wall Mirror, C1930

1920 - 1940
For Sale by Art Deco World
Description

Lovely shape and design and typical colourway for these Art Deco mirrors, English circa 1930. The mirror itself is in great condition. Still retains it's original backing, hanging chrome chain. We photographed this piece in natural daylight to give the best representation of colour and condition. The frame has modest wear with signs of some patina, nothing distracting and we feel actually adds to it's charm. Perfect for modern and period settings, hallways, bathrooms , mantle areas etc. The mirror has two blemishes to note, a foxing spot about 1 cm and on the center bullet mirror at the base is a silver internal mark. There are no chips, silver loss, clouding, cracks.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Art Deco mirrors from the 1930s are characterised by clean geometric lines, fan or sunburst silhouettes, and frameless construction. They frequently incorporate multi-panel segmented glass, bevelled edges, and decorative tinted glass sections such as peach, blue, or amber.

Mirrors from this period were crafted using silvered float glass mounted onto a solid wooden backing board. Details often featured hand-bevelled edges, textured or frosted glass panels, coloured mirror inserts, and nickel-plated or brass retaining clips.

Authentic period mirrors typically display natural age marks such as dark oxidisation or foxing along the edges where the silvering has aged. Original wooden backing boards, copper or brass mounting brackets, and subtle colour variations in period tinted glass also signal authenticity.

A fan-shaped Art Deco mirror functions as an architectural focal point when positioned above a fireplace mantel, hallway console table, or sideboard. Its geometric shape adds structural interest to neutral wall spaces and bridges period details with contemporary minimalism.

Clean the glass surface using a soft, dry microfibre cloth or a damp cloth with mild water, avoiding harsh chemicals or ammonia-based liquids that can seep behind the glass and degrade the silver backing. Ensure the wooden back board remains dry and securely mounted to avoid stress on the glass panels.
