Japanese Meiji Period Cloisonne Enamel Koro

A splendid Japanese Meiji period cloisonne enamel koro of globular form raised on three feet decorated in translucent & opaque polychrome enamels incorporating flecks of aventurine on a green ground, decorated with a Ho-o (phoenix) in flight with a continuous band of colourful flowers and a butterfly around the body and lappet borders top & bottom. The cover of the koro is pierced with matching enamel decor finished with a Peony bud finial and further decor embellished the base, this beautiful cloisonne koro has minor typical pitting otherwise it is in excellent condition standing 4 inches tall.
