N Wilson Antiques Clocks has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
This lovely antique clock has a superbly decorative Japanese bronze case.
This section then sits on top of a superbly cast water buffalo wearing a decorative saddle on which the movement sits. The water buffalo is then cast standing on a beautiful, pierced bronze base which is in a typical Japanese style. The bronze is cast with fantastic detail and is of the upmost quality. The finish to the bronze is also fantastic and has a lovely rich colour.

The dial is then black and set out in gold Roman numerals. The centre of the dial then has decorative gold rings. The dial also appears to have had a retailer at some stage although I can only make out the word “Paris”. The dial is then finished by two lovely shaped hands as well as a protective glass set into the bronze bezel.

The movement is then wound from the front and accessed from the back. It ticks away and works as it should. It is a lovely French movement and has a bevelled glass viewing window set into the back door.
An extremely rare and unusual clock that would look fantastic in any home or as part of a larger collection.
It measures approximately:
11” / 28cm Tall.
7.5” / 19cm Wide.
4” / 10cm Deep.
