A fine pair of French Sienna Marble and Bronze early nineteenth century library busts of the classic poets.
 
Circa 1830. Classical busts of the Grand Tour period.
 
Homer (spelt Homere in French)
 
Known as the greatest poet of Ancient Greece. Author of the Odyssey and Iliad.
 
Virgil (spelt Virgile in French)
 
Was considered the greatest Roman Poet. His work Aneid is considered the greatest epic of Ancient Rome.
 
The finely cast bronze has developed a rich patina over its long history. The vibrant Sienna marble retaining a rich colour.
 
Presented in excellent condition.
