Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1900s.
Of course they are made by the finest French manufacturer, LeMaire of Paris.

Each of the eye pieces has the engraved and inked signature together with the little Bee, the trademark for LeMaire. Also, if you look closely under the brass frame, you can find the engraved Bee trademark.

What makes this pair stand out from the crowd, even in the world of LeMaire, is the highly sought-after golden or amber coloured shell; also the two mother of pearl clad barrels that are revealed once they are focused and the inner barrels revealed, quite special.

Dating to c.1900, they remain in excellent working condition (tiny piece of trim under the letter R in "Paris" on one eye piece, insignificant but mentioned and shown for accuracy) and come complete with their original silk lined leather case with the Bee embossed clasp to the front (handle missing).
The case measuring 4 3/4" x 2 1/4" x 3".
