London Fine Antiques has dated this piece to the 1870s.
A charming example of a Victorian era Boulle work Bureaux.
This desk has a wonderful and graceful design.
The piece certainly has great appeal and creates a visually rewarding effect.

The cabriole legs are dressed with gilt metal castings depicting glamorous figures.
The interior is very clean and displays the rosewood. There is a large internal compartment with sliding cover and a fitted interior with three drawers.

The piece benefits from fine metalwork and is complete with original lock and key. An original writing surface of soft blue velvet adds to the appeal.
The Bureaux came to us with an interesting item of ephemera in the form of an original black & white image of the trenches during WW1 dated Aug 1915. This will be supplied to the new owner.

Overall the Bureaux is nicely aged and has a gorgeous look.
