Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

William IV furniture dates from 1830 to 1837, marking the transition between the refined lightness of the Regency era and the heavier, bolder forms of the early Victorian period. Key features include robust proportions, rich wood veneers like flame mahogany, classical mouldings, and simple turned details.

Pieces from this era were primarily constructed using solid mahogany or pine carcasses faced with cut flame mahogany veneers. Drawer linings were frequently crafted from oak or pine, joined with hand-cut dovetails and fitted with turned timber or brass handles.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-sawn timber marks, hand-cut dovetail joints on drawer construction, original lock mechanisms, and a natural aged patina or oxidisation on untouched interior surfaces.

A pair of pedestal cabinets can be styled as symmetrical bedside tables flanking a upholstered bed, positioned in a dining room as flanking sideboards, or placed on either side of a grand fireplace.

Keep the wood away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent cracking or fading of the veneer. Dust regularly with a soft microfibre cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish sparingly along the grain once or twice a year.
