A Rare Pair of Old Sheffield Plated Serving Trays

19th century
Description

A very rare near pair of serving trays. Made of Old Sheffield Plate and dating to c1820-1840, these trays are unmarked. Whilst having slight variations (size / edging) they have clearly been together for some time. With beautifully shaped gadrooned edging and standing on four floral feet. Of wonderful heavy quality.

The condition is very good overall with little plate wear and only minor scratching to the tray surfaces. With a couple of tiny indents and very small amount of copper bleed to the underside.

First tray - weight approx 1.5kg

Measures approx 39cm x 29.5cm x 4cm

Second tray - weight approx 1.6kg

Measures approx 42cm x 30cm x 4cm
