Signed. Date circa 1900.

Inscribed on old label to the reverse with title and artist's name and address.

Oil on canvas.

Size: 30"x 25". Framed size: 42"x 37".

Contained in it's very good original carved gold leaf frame. Trade enquiries welcome.

Painter, born in London, who studied art at the South Kensington Schools, Royal Academy Schools and the École des Beaux-Arts, Paris, under Jean-Leon Gérôme, and Émile Vernet Lecomte,

Harold Arthur Burke was born in 1852 and educated at Cheltenham. He was vice president of the Royal Society of British Painters between 1915 and 1919 and close friends with Sir James Shannon RA, who painted both Burke’s wife Beatrice and brother Charles.
