Exquisite Georgian Silver Tape Measure, Circa 1820

Description

This unusual Georgian silver tape measure dates circa 1820. The cylindrical body engraved with small concentric decorations on a finely textured background. The top with an adorable stem finial. It is very delicate and the winding mechanism is fully functioning. The green silk tape is in wonderful condition, the colour still very vivid and the numbers very sharp. It unwinds to a length of 20 inches / 51 cm by being holding onto the side of the tape measure and pulling gently on the tape extremity. It can be wound back by turning the top cover clockwise.

Hallmarks:

Unmarked as was practically always the case with small Georgian items, but tested as silver.

Dimensions:

Height up to top of finial: 3.5cm / 1.3 inches.

Diameter: 1.5cm / 0.4 inches.

Condition:

Very good.

No damage or loss.

Postage UK: £7 Royal Mail Special delivery.
