Pair of opposing bronze equestrian sculptures of rearing stallions and their grooms after the carrara marble originals sculpted by Guillaume Coustou commissioned by King Louis XV for the entrance of Chateau de Marly , France in 1743 .
. Both mounted upon naturalistically-cast ovoid bases ,each with clump of reeds or foliage.

Both sculptures in excellent original condition with a consistent rich ‘chocolate’ patina and colour. The bases of each cast with the sculptor’s facsimile signature “Coustou” .
