Welsh Oak Press Cupboard C.1780

Description

Georgian Welsh oak press cupboard, North Wales c.1780. In two pieces, taller two door cupboard fitted with two shelves (internal depth 17") over a base with five drawers. Good moulded cornice with dentil detail and an unusual simple carved frieze, all continued on the sides. Applied door panels with pointed ogee arch tops, canted corners with fluted detail. Simple moulded detail to the edge of the drawer fronts, later Georgian pattern brass handles. Ogee mouldings to the waist and base, raised on tall bracket feet front and rear. Solid oak sides, shelves and backboards. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
