Originating from the Japanese port of Imari, these decorative porcelain designs were imported to Europe in the late 17th century. British potteries, including Worcester and Spode, adapted the style during the Georgian and Regency periods, creating regional interpretations characterised by rich underglaze cobalt blue, iron red, and gilt ornamentation.

These plates were crafted from fine porcelain clay and fired multiple times.
