Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1850s.
The box is made from stunning Burr Walnut with it's nutty brown colour and beautiful graining.
There are a few minor pieces of loss to the brass (small little leaves and the like, mentioned for accuracy).

There is a domed lid to the top of the box, leather lined with stationery compartments, a lidded pen tray, two other small lidded compartments for nibs etc., and two compartments for inkwells. I have placed in one inkwell I had that fitted, not in great shape but a start, you may wish to find a nice pair to complete the box to perfection.

The writing slope is covered in a green leather with gold embossed detailing. This writing surface is framed by Tulipwood cross-banding complimenting the little turned knobs on the lidded compartments.

The top section of the slope opens to reveal a beautifully finished interior in Satinwood, great storage for letters, stationery or photographs.
A beautifully showy piece in excellent condition (alas, no key) measuring 13" x 10" x 6" to top of domed compartment.
