Description

An attractive persian malayer rug with a stylised shikli pattern of four hooked shrub-like motifs surrounding the salmon red central medallion,design based on a caucasian shikli theme. Notice the two pairs of small birds within the central medallion all on a virtually black ground colour. The wash bringing the colours out nicely to a jewel-like look especially the blue.

Has been hand washed,last three images. Plenty images to look at.

All over low pile with very subtle wear. Fringe losses both ends and entire perimeter reinforced from rear with conservators tape.

Size is 6 foot by 4 foot. 185cm by 122cm. At widest points. Wool pile hand knotted onto cotton foundations.
