Antique Double Fusee Architectural Mantel Clock with a Silvered Dial

19th century
Description

Antique Double Fusee Architectural Mantel Clock With A Silvered Dial.

This lovely antique mantel clock has a mahogany case with a lovely rich colour. The case then has a beautiful top designed to look like a traditional tiled roof. The front of the case then has a lovely intricate scrolling design to the top. This is then followed by mouldings and a brick design section which is continued in the sides. The front and sides then also have shaped pillars with the sides also having silk backed, fretwork panels. There is then a stepped base made of two sections each with brickwork patterning. Finally the back of the case has a silk backed fretwork panel.

The dial is then silvered with silvered chapter rings. The main chapter ring is set out in black, engraved Roman numerals with a thin ring of dashes to mark the minutes. There is then a subsidiary “STRIKE SILENT” chapter ring so the clock can be silenced as well as a “FAST SLOW” chapter ring so the timekeeping can be adjusted. The dial is then engraved with a lovely scrolling design. Finally the dial is finished by four shaped fingers as well as a protective glass set into the door.

The movement is then wound from the front and accessed from the back. It is a double fusee example of the upmost quality and ticks away as it should. It comes complete with its regulating pendulum, winding key and travel nut. The clock also chimes both the number of hours as well as once on the half past via a gong.

It measures approximately:

- 18.25” / 46.25cm Tall.

- 12.25” / 31cm Wide.

- 9.5” / 24cm Deep.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
