Gill Coe Antiques & Interiors has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
The box is lined with the original blue watered silk and is in good condition. There is some age related wear to the box and silk but no holes or splits. In general the box has a rich patina and is a very handsome piece. There is a matching tazza, probably bought at the same time as the box. This is also on my site.
