Antique 18th Century Period Mahogany Bureau Bookcase C1780

Antique 18th Century Period Mahogany Bureau Bookcase and dating from the time of George 111 c1780. Constructed from quality mahogany it has a moulded cornice top with wide cross banded frieze with fine inlaid stringing and an inlaid motif to the centre and half shell inlaid motif to each end. This is above two glazed doors with inlaid stringing and working key and internally there are three fully adjustable original shelves. The base has a fall front with brass escutcheon and working key and with a beautifully inlaid motif to the centre. The fall front opens to reveal a very nice interior with, and to the centre a row of pigeon holes above a single long drawer over an open letter compartment. This is flanked on either side by a flight of four graduating drawers. It has a green baize writing surface. To the base there are two short drawers over three long graduating drawers all of which are pine lined with original brass handles. It is raised on bracket feet and separates for ease of transporting.
