Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Woodbridge Antiques

A very handsome antique sterling silver and glass , leather-bound hip flask. The silver lid has a bayonet fitting and is hinged with a silver collar.  Here clear hallmarks are visible for the Sheffield Assay office with a date mark for 1904, Lion Passant indicating fine sterling silver and the maker''s mark for the silversmith:  James Dixon & Sons. The top half of the glass body is bound in a stylish cognac coloured leather  (there is a small nick of leather damage on one side just below the glass panel which enables viewing the contents - see images).   The lower half of the flask pulls away to be used as a drinking cup, and full hallmarks are also clearly visible on one side.

A super Hip flask;  in great overall condition (small amount of leather damage as mentioned above) and some very light surface scratching to the silver cup, commensurate with age and mentioned only for accuracy.

Hallmarks: Sheffield 1904 by James Dixon & Sons.
