Description

Joseph Cuvelier (1833-1870) A good sized Bronze of a Polo Player c1866 signed J Cuvelier and cast and inscribed to base by H Lippens & CIE mounted on a sculptured marble base.

Height 50 cm and Width 40 cm and Weighs 19 Kilograms

Cuvelier began exhibiting at the Paris Salon in 1867, and exhibited this model of a polo player there as well as many other animalier studies. His career was unfortunately cut short as he was killed in combat only three years later, defending Paris in 1870.
