Worcester Porcelain Beaker Kakiemon ‘Two Quail’ Pattern, C. 1770.

Description

A rare Worcester porcelain small beaker, c. 1770. The conical shaped beaker, hand painted in the Kakiemon style, with the ‘Two Quail’ pattern. The two quails, beneath a stylised prunus tree, to the front, with a flowering plant to the reverse. Further sprigs of flowers, and flowerheads painted around the rest of the body.

Having an elaborate band of iron red scrollwork, divided by flower heads to the inner rim.

Gilt crescent mark to the base, within a broad, unglazed footrim.

Height – 5.5 cm, 2 1/8”.

Diameter – 7 cm, 2 3/4”.

Medium: Porcelain

Condition: Excellent. No damage. No restoration.
