Antique Georgian Solid Silver Teapot Fluted Design by John Bridge (Rundell, Bridge & Rundell) 1827 - Top Maker

We are delighted to offer this rare and fine solid silver Georgian teapot bowl made by a top maker - John Bridge of London, 1827.

John Bridge was the co-founder of 'Rundell, Bridge and Rundell' (alongside Philip Rundell) - the greatest 19th-century goldsmith & retailer of England, as demonstrated by their Royal Warrant.

The firm's success reached beyond borders with branches in Paris, Vienna, St Petersburg, Baghdad, Constantinople, Bombay, Culcutta and several cities in South America. Important commissions overseas, notably the diplomatic gifts (snuff boxes) and the 'Rundell Tiara' made for Princess Alexandre are just a few of their extensive exquisite wares made in the Georgian/Victorian era.

From 1802, their workshops would be managed by the most notable silversmiths, none less than Benjamin Smith & Digby Scott, and eventually Paul Storr in 1807

Unsurprisingly, this teapot presents some very fine and highly desirable features such as the angular fluting of the exterior, embellished with a cast and chased silver border of acanthus leaves and shell motifs.

The entirety of this teapot is crafted from a fabulous gauge of silver which is ever more apparent when held in hand. The sturdy body is supported by a gadrooned foot and an elegant swan-neck handle provides a secure hold of the teapot.

The fine detailing such as the finely stippled acorn design joining the handle to the body and the contrast created by sharp angles distinguishes this piece with an aura of splendour.

The teapot is fully hallmarked with English marks on the base and lid.

Leak-free and remaining in good condition, this teapot would most definitely grace a fine dining table whether be it for afternoon tea or simply as part of opulent interior decor.
