A Silver Mounted Carved Wood Jewel Box

A delightful silver mounted jewel box of Continental origin. This attractive example has an intricately carved body of linden or lime wood. The lid is decorated with beautiful silver fretwork, which is repeated around the escutcheon . The lid is hinged and opens to reveal the original pink satin interior. A fine gift idea, both decorative and usable. Dimensions below.

Condition :- Excellent, with no breaks or cracks to the wood. No breaks, dents or losses to the silver. There is some staining to the interior fabric, shown in photographs and commensurate with age and use.

Origin :- European.

Marks :- Two tiny hallmarks to each silver piece. One is a Boar's head with II beneath, the other is unclear.

Date :- c1900.

Length :- 16.5 cms.

Depth :- 12 cms.

Height :- 6.5 cms.
