Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

An environs map from the 19th century depicts a major city alongside its surrounding rural districts, villages, and parishes. These cartographic prints documented urban expansion, transport networks, and parish boundaries during eras of rapid industrial growth.

Maps from this era were typically copperplate or steel engravings printed onto handmade rag paper. Details were often highlighted using hand-applied watercolour washes to delineate county borders, rivers, and municipal districts.

Genuine period maps display plate marks along the border from the pressure of the printing plate, fine line-hatching detail, and natural paper age-toning. Examining the paper texture under magnification often reveals chain lines and watermarks characteristic of rag paper production.

Frame the map using a minimalist dark wood or thin brass frame with UV-protective museum glass to accentuate its detail. Hang the piece above a sideboard, desk, or within a gallery wall to introduce a sense of history and structure to a study or living area.

Display paper prints away from direct sunlight and high-humidity areas to prevent fading and foxing. Mount the piece using acid-free, archival materials and UV-filtering glass to protect the original pigments and paper fibres.
