Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The Civitas Londinum map, originally attributed to Ralph Agas, depicts London in the mid-16th century during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I. Late 19th-century publishers, including Cassell, produced lithographic prints of this birds-eye view to record historical urban growth.

Victorian map prints were commonly executed on woven paper using lithography or steel-plate engraving techniques. These prints were typically mounted behind glass inside wooden or gilded frames for preservation.

Authentic period prints feature publisher markings, natural paper aging, foxing, and fine lithographic lines. Examining paper texture and plate margins helps distinguish late Victorian reproductions from modern digital prints.

A panoramic antique map works well when positioned central to a large wall surface, such as above a dark wood sideboard, writing desk, or mantelpiece. Pairing the piece with brass accents or leather furniture creates a cohesive study aesthetic.

To preserve antique paper prints, keep them out of direct sunlight and avoid high-humidity environments that encourage mold growth. Frame the print using acid-free mounting materials and UV-protective glass.
