Fowey River Antiques has dated this piece to the 1870s.
~~ excellent original condition throughout ~~
This is a fabulous French gilt mantel clock dated to around 1870.
The gilt case is in outstanding condition and has not been gold spray painted which most gilded clocks listed are and as such is highly prized. It is bright and crisp, truly stunning.

It has a handpainted porcelain urn featuring a country scene, a central panel depicting a romantic liaison and then the pillars at each side. The dial is also handpainted with a house and a river all of which are in the Sevres style.

The dial is in excellent original condition with no cracks or chips.
It comes with both keys and its original numbered pendulum.
The serial numbers on the back of the dial, the movement and the pendulum all match confirming its total originality.

It has a very high quality French movement with the early type outside countwheel. It has a Brocot suspension with fine adjustment control to the front of the dial just above the 12 oclock.
It strikes the hours and the half hours on a small tuned bell which sounds lovely.

Quite simply a most beautiful mantle or bedroom clock which will give great pleasure for many years to come.
It strikes on the hour and half hour on a bell.
This clock has obviously been highly prized and looked after and is a credit to its previous owners.
The clock movement has been cleaned and serviced and comes with a full 12 month warranty.
