London Fine Antiques has dated this piece to the 1860s.
A nice example of a Bookcase over Cabinet from the mid-Victorian period.

The cabinet shelf is fixed. For purposes of internal measurements for the lower cabinet section:
Max height 27cm (i.e. height above shelf)
Max depth 26cm
The cabinet section also benefits from a drawer which has been lined with baize.

The shelves in the upper section are removable and adjustable so any number can be used, removed, or indeed added. In total there is 100cm of space vertically and the largest depth item that can be accomodated is 23.5cm

The colour of the mahogany is correct and reveals the wood well.
The whole sits upon a continuous plinth and is topped by a fitting crown moulding to the upper.
A wonderful piece of furniture that is fully functional but under close inspection does show the expected signs of use (knocks, abrasions, replaced locks etc).
