Late 18thc Sepia Engraving by Bartolozzi C1795

Description

A late 18thc sepia engraving titled The Benevolent Lady published on 1 January 1795. The engraving comes with an interesting title back sheet from the era. It was a collaborative work from a painting by John James Barralet (1747-1815) with the figures engraved by Francesco Bartolozzi RA (1727-1815) and the landscape engraved by Thomas Morris (c1750-c1811). The back sheet states at bottom: London Pub. Jan 1 1795 by A Molteno Printseller to her Royal Highness the Duchess of York No 76 St James Street.

A version of this engraving is held in the collections of the V&A Museum, in London, whose website provided the research for this entry.

A well known image in very good condition, reframed with a double mount. Image size 23cmHx 16cmW.
