Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

During the Georgian era, wine funnels were essential dining accessories used to strain sediment and lees from aged port and claret as the wine was poured into a decanter.

Traditional silver wine funnels were crafted from sterling silver, comprising a bowl with an inner pierced filter ring connected to a curved, tapered spout designed to direct liquid against the inner wall of a decanter.

Authentic pieces bear official British hallmarks including the lion passant for sterling silver, a town mark such as Londons leopard head, a makers mark, and a date letter corresponding to the George III period.

A silver wine funnel can be displayed alongside glass decanters on a dining room sideboard, integrated into a curated drinks tray setup, or showcased inside a glass cabinet.

Silver funnels should be cleaned gently using a soft cloth and a specialised non-abrasive silver polish, followed by rinsing in warm water and thorough drying to prevent tarnish.
