An early 19th oil on wood panel painting c1800. This small antique oil painting depicts a rural scene in a busy village, seemingly just after a rain shower. It has lots of detail - the gushing stream, bridge, muddy road, cottage and people. In the left corner, two figures chat while the grey horse cools its forelegs in a puddle! The clearing clouds and blue sky coming through suggest better weather ahead. A lovely, naive style antique painting with lots of detail. The frame is probably original and shows signs of its age.
