A pair of late 18th century oil portraits of Millington Hayford and his wife. English c.1694-1745. Oils on canvas. The first portrait of Millington Hayford bears an inscription the reverse which says Millington Hayford was born about 1700 and died about 1745. He died eight months before the birth of his only child who subsequently became, Lady Thorold. She died in 1807. An old label attached to the reverse also says that the painting was given to Charles Thorold, Lady Thorold's son-in-law. The second portrait has a label saying that this is a portrait of Mrs Beardsley, wife of George Beardsley, giving details of her becoming a widow aged 19 and then marrying Millington Hayford of Millington Hall. The portraits measures 26.5cm x 21.5cm without the frames. The frames do need some attention, however the paintings themselves are in good condition. Provenance: Private Collection.
