Mounted Ships Clock Striking 8 Bells of the Watch

1900 - 1920
Description

This is a quite unique ships clock by Schatz of Germany. This 8 day clock strikes the 8 bells of the 4 hour watch pattern on a ship, striking a different number of strikes each half-hour. It strikes using 2 hammers on a heavy cast brass bell that is mounted above the clock. It is mounted on a beautifully polished mahogany backboard. The body of the clock is gold painted with a chromium plated, heavy bevelled glass, opening front door. The white dial has black Arabic numerals plus an inner marking of the 24 hr clock. It is signed "Schatz. Royal Mariner. Made in Germany" with a motif showing "8bells". It has a Strike/Silent button within the dial.

The 8 day movement has just been fully serviced by our Bhi registered staff and carries our usual 12 mths full parts and labour guarantee.

We have sold many, many ships clocks but never have we seen one of this super specification.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
