Fabulous Large Antique English Sterling Silver Cylindrical Box - 1901

Description

A wonderful and large cylindrical dressing table box, perfect for the finest bedroom, bathroom or dressing room with exquisite all-over repousse decoration.

The domed lid is crowned with a vacant cartouche which could of course be engraved by your silversmith, making it a wonderful personalized gift.

The interior is spectacular with washed in gold. The silver is of course hallmarked for Birmingham 1901, the Victorian era overlapping the early Edwardian era. The makers initials are also present, H M for the renowned silversmith, Henry Matthews.

Superb condition measuring 3 1/4" tall with a lid diameter of 3 1/4" and weighing in at 147.7 grams or 4.75 troy ounces.
