Elmgarden has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
They are a male and female pair, him with his neat beard and the lady with curly hair, they have rich and luxuriously draped clothes, their faces have the most wonderful expressions
The Statues are carved in wood which has been prepared with gesso before being painted, the colours are bright with generous amounts of Silver
The Statues are in very good condition, there is only a very little chipping of their paint, they are set on plinths and can be dismantled for transport
The Statues are 68” tall and approximately 26” across
