N Wilson Antiques Clocks has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
The too edge then has a moulding leading to the square body of the case which has brass lions heads to each side. The back door then has a silk backed fretwork panel. The case then has a further moulding to the bottom edge and is finished by four shaped brass feet.
The dial is then brass with a silvered chapter ring set out in black Roman numerals with a thin ring to the outside marking the minutes and every five minutes marked in Arabic numerals. The dial then has a lovely cherubs head spandril to each corner. The dial is then finished by two shaped, blue steel hands as well as a protective glass set into the front door.
The movement is then wound from the front and accessed from the back. It comes complete with its pendulum and winding key and is in full working order. It then chimes one ting tang on the quarter past, two on the half past, three on the quarter to, as well as the number of hours on the hour via two gongs. Finally the movement is stamped “W&H Sch 3” to show that it was made by the famous Winterhalder & Hofmeier.
