Rare Steel Niello Worked 3 Section Sword Stick

1900 - 1920
Description

This early 20th Century steel sword stick is in three parts, the handle of a Lion or Tiger's head with a short sword or dagger, screws into the centre section which in turn screws into the bottom section ending in a sharp tip. The decoration is in the niello style, with the black background contrasting with the silver coloured steel.

The whole is a very sturdy, heavy walking stick, unlike a sheathed sword stick this would take some time to produce the hidden blade. It might be more effective for defence used as a cudgel.

In very good condition, I think it originates from India or Asia.
