Description

A very fine pair of late nineteenth century opera glasses made from Mother of Pearl and the original gilded brass; made by the creme de la creme of makers, LeMaire of Paris.

The makers mark (the Napoleonic Bee) is engraved on the underside of frame and the case is also lucky enough to have an embossed Bee on the push button closure on the front of the leather case. Both Mother of Pearl eye pieces are engraved and inked with the signature of this eminent maker.

The original case is lined in a vibrant red silk, the handle has wear as per the photographs.

Excellent working order; fine quality and condition, dating to c.1900. The case measuring 4 5/8" x 2 1/4" x 2 3/4" tall.
