Antique Miniature Striking Mantel Clock by Wilson and Gill London with Brass Finials

19th century
Description

Antique Miniature Striking Mantel Clock By Wilson And Gill London Brass Finials.

This lovely antique miniature mantel clock has a shaped top with a large brass finial to the centre of the top and a slightly smaller one to each corner. There is then a moulding followed by the square body of the case which has turned brass columns to the front corners. There is then a silk backed fretwork panel to the back door. There is then some fine inlay to the front as well as a further moulding to the base. Finally the case is finished by four round brass feet.

The dial is then silvered and set out in black, engraved Roman numerals with a thin ring marking the minutes. The outside of the dial is then intricately engraved with scrolling patterns. The centre of the dial is then engraved with the makers name “WILSON & GILL 139 & 141, REGENT ST, LONDON”. Finally the dial is finished by two shaped, blued steel hands as well as a protective glass.

The movement is then both wound and accessed from the back. It is a striking example which strikes both the number of hours on the hour as well as once on the half past via a gong. The clock works perfect, ticks away, and comes complete with its winding key.

It measures approximately:

- 9.75” / 24.75cm Tall.

- 5.75” / 14.5cm Wide.

- 4.5” / 11.5cm Deep.

We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
