Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A clock garniture is a decorative set typically comprising a central mantel clock flanked by a matching pair of candelabra or urns, popularised during the reign of Louis XVI in 18th-century France. The style emphasises neoclassical proportions, symmetrical balance, and motifs inspired by antiquity.

These sets were constructed using cast gilt bronze, also known as ormolu, often paired with white or black marble bases and hand-painted enamel dials set with Roman numerals.

Authentic period pieces exhibit precise hand-chasing on the bronze surfaces, heavy cast construction, hand-enamelled dial plates, and French mechanical movements stamped with maker marks and serial numbers on the backplate.

Position the central clock on a marble fireplace mantelpiece or dining room sideboard, placing the matching candelabra symmetrically on either side to frame the arrangement and establish visual balance.

Dust the surface regularly using a soft, dry microfibre cloth or a soft-bristled artist brush. Avoid abrasive cleaners, polish, or water, which can degrade original fire-gilding and damage porous marble components.
