English Striking Drop Dial Wall Clock

19th century
Description

A very fine mahogany striking drop dial wall clock. The robust clock movement of 8-day duration boasts substantially shaped plates, double fusee, anchor escapement, striking the hours on the hour and a single strike on the half-hour to a single bell.

The 12” convex dial with roman numerals is also signed “Payne of 163 New Bond Street (London)”, with a slim cast brass bezel surrounding the attractive finely painted dial, with convex glass to match and original finely blued steed “moon” hands.

The mahogany drop dial case with attractive ears and doors to both sides with fretwork and silks, with a lockable door to the foot of the case.

Serviced and guaranteed for 3 years.
