Description

An excellent example of a First World War military compass. It is fully functioning, has a brass case and is mounted with lanyard ring. The glass face and numbered brass outer ring are perfectly intact. The rear of the case is stamped with war department arrows and the date 1917.

It is complete with brown leather case with hinged top and buckle fastener, wear commensurate with age. The original owner's name is inked on the case P. J. Sainsbury; the maker's name is also impressed on the front of the case "Leatheries Ltd" and is also impressed with the war department arrows and the date 1917.

A great clean example in excellent condition. 3 1/2" x 2 1/4" x 7/8" thick. The case measuring 4" x 3" x 2".
