Antique silver half hunter pocket watch, S Smith & Son.

The watch has a Swiss stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are Swiss 935 hallmarks inside all three covers. The case is in good condition with just light marking, nothing serious at all. The back of the watch has beautifully ornate initials.

The front of the watch has a small central lens surrounded by dark blue enamel filled Roman numerals.

The winding crown pushes in to open the front cover.

Inside, there is an acrylic lens which is in good condition… there is a lot of reflection in the photo as the inner cover is acting like a mirror.

The dial is signed S Smith & Son, Watchmakers to the Admiralty, 9 Strand, London, Swiss Made followed by the red numbers 54 3 11. The significance of these numbers is not known, it could be a date but is much later than the date of manufacture.

The dial is in lovely condition. The pin-set hands are period replacements, slightly different in colour.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.
