Description

A good solid mahogany "Wellington Style" Chest of seven graduating drawers, each with locks and screw-in wooden knobs.

The top is of finest figured mahogany with rounded front corners and a reeded edge. The top (smallest) drawer is stmped by the makers "MAPLE" and inside signed in pencil "Wright". The whole unit is supported on a solid mahogany plinth.

Maple & Co, based in Tottenham Court Road, London, was a British furniture manufacturer established in 1841 which found particular success during the Victorian and Edwardian era's. The company became one of the prime makers and suppliers of furniture to the aristocracy and royalty both in the UK and around the World.

Dated: c.1830-1850. 

Dimensions: Height: 47 inches (119.5cm). Width: 27 inches (68.5cm). Depth: 18.5 inches (47cm).
