Exquisite Early Victorian Silver Caddy Spoon by Thomas Dones, Birmingham 1851

Description

This unusual Victorian silver caddy spoon was made in Birmingham 1851 by Thomas Dones. The tulip-shaped bowl with scalloped border. The fan-shaped flat handle engraved with foliate scrolls embossed with leaves, flowers and seed pods. The back of the handle engraved with initials above a full set of hallmarks.

Hallmarks:

T.D for Thomas Dones.

Lion Passant.

Birmingham Assay Mark.

Duty Mark.

Date letter "C" for 1851.

Condition:

Good.

Sign of a very well executed very small repair on the back of the handle (reflected in the price).

Dimensions.

Length: 8cm / 3.1 inches

Bowl: 5cm x 4.5cm / 2 inches x 1.6 inches.
