A Most Impressive Large Classical Bronze Study of a Female Artist by Jean-paul Aube, C 1890

This superb bronze is the work of the highly acclaimed French artist Jean-Paul Aube (1837-1920).

It is entitled Le Peinture . It is of an important large size which is rarely available and depicts a most attractive young Roman woman who is an artist working in her studio. She is dressed in a simple classical robe fastened with a large button on her shoulder. Her hair is gathered up and dressed with cut flowers. She is most beautiful with an expression of relaxed concentration while she studies her work whilst holding a paintbrush in one hand and a pallet of colours in the other. She is seated on an ornate pedestal with a stepped base where she rests her bare feet. This large bronze is in good original condition and has a variegated mid brown patination.
